9 months

Camera Fun! Lite on my Palm Pre'

The boys turned 9 months old yesterday. I gave them mandarin oranges for breakfast, which they loved, and for lunch some of the chicken noodle soup I made for dinner which they also gobbled up. This morning they got blueberries and pears and ate almost all of it, but got full quick. I need to attempt carrots again, but I think as long as they eat it mixed with something else, they'll like it more. I want to try them out with asparagus and brussel sprouts as well, but I'll have to figure out what to pair it with since they have such unique tastes of their own. Instead of purees, I'm starting leaving them in bite size chunks. I just gave them a snack with mandarin oranges that way and it was messy but entertaining. They do pretty well with the rice puffs, and I want to get some cheerios as well for them to practice feeding themselves with. They tried bananas that way and mostly squished them and the fruit will be a little slippery as well.

The boys fell asleep while I was on Skype with Kristy :)

They are getting much better at holding their cups and I've started leaving them in the high chairs a bit longer after they eat to figure it out but they keep tossing them on the floor. They have also transitioned into the big boy seat in the tub, so we'll have to get a second one so they can bathe together. Isaac loves to splash and Eden doesn't like water in his face, so this should be fun. Isaac and I are almost completely over the nasty colds we got and Eden started acting like he was getting one but it's about gone as well as his wicked diaper rash that forced us to put him in disposables for a while while the diapers were being re-cleaned.

We took them to the Inman Park Festival last Sunday and they finally met the rest of the Nomadikat crew. We didn't walk around too much because of the volume of people there and left around 2 to try to get the boys home while they were asleep. They go to the doctor next week for their 9 month check up and shots and pictures the last weekend of the month. After that, the last session is 12 months then we get to order our book!!!!!

After watching these, I wonder just how I often I talk to other people in this voice or if I've ever talked to them in any other voice :)

on a side note

Thanks to everyone who has made comments on here. I still haven't figured out why I don't get notified when comments are left, but I'm working on it. Just to let you know, I don't check for any except every once in a while, so, yeah.... thanks :)

mobility

Eden takes pictures similar to my mom and I - we either blink or accidentally look away :)

Eden will just lay on his elbows on his tummy and play for extended periods of time, but can't yet lift himself onto his hands. He recently has been rolling to his right from one side of the room to the other all week now. He hasn't figured out how to roll in the other direction though, so it's a lot of me getting up and turning him upside down to roll back or re-placing him back on the other side the room so I can get back up in five minutes.

Isaac playing attack of the monkeys - little does he realize that he IS one!

Isaac can roll from his back to his tummy but not back to his back and will lift himself up from his tummy on his hands up as far as he can unlike Eden. He does this for maybe 5 minutes and then he pivots a little until he's totally frustrated and yells for help. However, tonight, he started grabbing the blanket on the floor and pulling on it while trying to get to his knees or feet. This is a HUGE step in mobility for them. I have no doubt as soon as one of them figures it out, the other will be close behind since they watch each other so intently now on everything including eating.

Going for a walk on a brisk sunny day...

Playing on the floor in their new summer monkey wear :)

So now we have to hurry up and find a more permanent place for the corral, install the rest of the baby proof latches, and relocate the Pyrex baking dishes to a higher location in substitution for a more Rubbermaid friendly option. I can't believe they'll be 9 months old in just a couple more weeks! I have to get an appointment set up for that doctor's visit too I guess. We're starting to assemble thoughts for their birthday party. It will definitely be at our hose but we're trying to settle on either the weekend before or after their actual birthday which is on a Wednesday. A kiddie pool will likely be bought. That's all I got for now. :)

Isaac's Surgery

Isaac went in this morning for his Kidney Ultrasound and circumcision at Egleston @ Emory. We got there around 6:45 am, got checked in and down for his ultrasound around 8 am. They took him back for his surgery by 10 and he was back in my arms by 11. We Got home around 1 and got him re-acclimated and he's now napping in the nursery. All the nurses loved him of course and he turned up the charm to 11 :) He'll have follow up on the 19th and we'll discuss the ultrasound as well as check his site for how it heals.

The Boys' First Easter

The boys enjoyed their first Easter yesterday. We opened their baskets in the morning then after breakfast and a nap, headed to my parents house.

They got to visit with their Great Aunt Marion, Aunt Jaimie and cousins, Justice & Ethan, as well as Grandma and Grandpa Moseley. We all stuffed ourselves with the delicious food everyone brought and the boys, Jaimie and I all took a nap. We took them up to visit with their Great Aunt Patsy & Great Uncle Richard and finally meet their cousins Jennifer and fiance', Chad, and her daughter Brooke, and Stephanie and her fiance', Howie.

We didn't get home until way past their bed time again so we quickly gave them baths and sent them to bed, which the went happily. W all had a good weekend, especially with Joey off an extra day for Good Friday and finally caught up on visiting people. We look forward to doing it even more in the coming months.

Car seats dilema

On Monday we brought the Mazda to the shop to get a squeaking sound looked at before it got worse (nothing found, no charge, but still squeaking). When we did, we had to put the boys new carseats in the explorer. It was so tight we had to climb in the back to put them in their seats! I'm so glad we got the Mazda when we did. I can't imagine doing that on a regular basis.

For Dr. Velez,

My mother works at a local bank where the cousin of Dr. Velez, one of the beloved doctors that helped our boys in NICU, is a customer. She's been passing along updated for us on the boys whenever they come in.
We just wanted to jot a quick note here if he happens upon our little website thanking him and Dr. Aderibigbe for helping our little boys survive when they came into this world too early. Words can never describe how thankful we were everyday we came in there that you were always willing to explain exactly what was going on with the boys and help us understand the process and what we could do to help them grow stronger. The entire process was sometimes frustrating and emotionally overwhelming, but you were always so positive about it and we always walked away feeling hopeful. Thank you again for everything you and keep doing what you do - I doubt there is anyone who could do it better!

The boys are now 8 months old and strong and healthy!
